Wonders of Ethiopia Itinerary

Day 1
You will be met at Addis Ababa Airport and transferred to the 4-star Jupiter International Hotel for overnight.

Day 2
You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Axum where you will take a city tour that includes the Steale Park, St. Mary's Church, the Sanctuary Chapel which is the repository of the 'Ark of Covenant', the Coronation Yard and Axum Museum, Queen of Sheba's Palace ruins and King Kaleb's Tomb. Overnight at the Yeha Hotel.

Day 3
Today there will be an excursion to the pre-Axumite Yeha Temple and Church of Abuna Aftse. The Yeha Temple is a 5th century temple displaying incredible skills in stonework and is the oldest building still standing in Ethiopia. Return to Axum for the night at the Yeha Hotel.

Day 4
You will be transferred to Axum airport for the flight to Lalibela. Visit the magnificent rock Churches hewn out from solid rock by the famous King Lalibela who ruled Ethiopia in the 13th century, these churches are still active places of worship. There are 11 churches, each with its own architectural characteristics. Overnight at the Roha/Mountain View Hotel.

Day 5
Today you drive to the Nakuto Leab Monastery. King Nakuto Leab abdicated his throne in 1270 AD and went to a cave to lead a hermit's life. This cave has ever since become a monastery and has a dramatic setting. It houses one of the most interesting collections of ancient crosses, illustrated manuscripts and other icons some of which are attributed to its founder Nakuto Leab. In the afternoon, you resume the tour of the rock hewn churches of Lalibela. Overnight at the Roha/Mountain View Hotel.



Day 6
You will be transferred to Lalibela airport for the flight to Gondar, a town founded in 1636 by the great Emperor Fassiladas. There will be a city tour of Gondar that includes the Castles, Palaces and Churches built by the Emperor and his descendants. Overnight at the Goha/Qura Hotel.

Day 7
You will be transferred to the Gondar airport for the flight to Bahar Dar. Take a boat cruise on Lake Tana to visit the 13th century monastery of Ura Kidane Mihret. In the afternoon there will be a city tour including the Reed Boat dock. Overnight at the Tana/Summerland Hotel.

Day 8
You will be transferred to the Bahar Dar Airport for flight back to Addis. Overnight at the Jupiter International Hotel.



Day 9
Take a full day city tour of Addis that includes National archaeological Museum that houses the 3.5 million year old skeleton of LUCY and other interesting archaeological findings, Mount Entoto, and Trinity Cathedral. In the afternoon, we resume the tour to include the Ethnographic Museum, St. George Cathedral and Merkato - the largest open air market in Africa. Overnight at the Jupiter International Hotel.

Day 10
You will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
