Historical Turkey Itinerary

DAY 1 (Friday) ISTANBUL
Meet and greet on arrival at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. Then transfer to your hotel with an English speaking representative’s assistance. Overnight Istanbul.

Day 2 (Saturday) ISTANBUL
Today there will be a full days city sightseeing in this unique city. Marvel at the splendours of the Blue Mosque and Ayasophia monuments to Islam and Christianity, the wealth of the Topkapi Palace with its awe-inspiring jewels; and the Hippodrome with its Serpentine Column and Fountain of Wilhelm II. Spend time honing your bartering skills in the labyrinthine maze of the Grand Bazaar. Lunch included. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 (Sunday) Ankara - CAPPADOCIA
Early morning departure for the transfer to Istanbul Airport for the Turkish Airline flight to Ankara. On arrival you will be collected from Ankara Airport and then continue to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations where the remains of 16 civilizations of Anatolia are displayed. Continue to the Mausoleum of Atatürk in Ankara. After lunch, drive to Cappadocia through the countryside. Cappadocia is one of Turkey's amazing natural wonders with its other-worldy lunar landscape of strange rock formation, underground cities and churches carved into the rock. Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 4 (Monday) CAPPADOCIA
Today there will be a full day tour of Cappadocia including the natural citadel of Uchisar, Göreme and Zelve Valleys, also the underground city of Kaymakli where the early Christians sought refuge from persecution in this city hewn out of rock seven stories deep. Overnight Cappadocia.

Day 5 (Tuesday) Cappadocia - PAMUKKALE
An early departure is required for a long day’s drive. You will visit the 13th century Sultanhan Caravanserai of Seljuks’ on the way to Konya. Visit the Mausoleum of Mevlana, founder of the Whirling Dervishes Order. Lunch by the picturesque Egirdir Lake. Late afternoon check-in to your hotel in Pamukkale.

Day 6 (Wednesday) Pamukkale - KUSADASI
In the morning, see the natural phenomenon of Pamukkale, located on a plateau rising 100 metres above the plain and faced by a dazzling array of chalk-white stalactites that have cascaded over the surface for centuries. Later visit the ancient city of Hierapolis, the site of the largest necropolis of the ancient world and then continue to Kusadasi for dinner and overnight. Lunch en route. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.

Day 7 (Thursday) KUSADASI
Today there will be a drive to the magnificent ruined Roman city of Ephesus, the ancient capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. Home to the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World), here you will see the ruins of the Odeon, Hercules Gate, the Temple of Hadrian, the magnificent Celsus Library, the Agora and spectacular Greco-Roman theatre.  Continue to the House of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St. John. Return to your hotel in Kusadasi for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 (Friday) Kusadasi - CANAKKALE
Early departure to Ancient Pergamum where you will visit its Acropolis and Asklepieion. Lunch is included in the town, then continue to Troy. Explore the site of this ancient city with nine habitation levels covering a period of 3000 years and made famous by Homer in his Iliad. Overnight in Canakkale.

Day 9 (Saturday) Canakkale - ISTANBUL
Today you will cross the Dardanelles by ferry and visit Anzac Bay, the Memorials of Gallipoli. Continue up the Thracian peninsula through fields of sunflowers and wheat and beautiful seaside vistas and finally reaching Istanbul. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 10 (Sunday) Istanbul - DEPARTURE
Transfer to Istanbul Atatürk Airport for departure flight.
